Michelle Visage Makes Surprise Appearance At Auckland’s Big Gay Out
The New Jersey-born RuPaul’s Drag Race judge, 54, found fame overseas as a singer before moving to UK TV and radio.
Speaking on BBC program The One Show, Visage gave his thoughts on EastEnders a possible role for him, telling hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: “I’ve been trying to do it for five years.”

Visage, who hosts BBC Radio 2 every Friday night, explained his thought process: “For me the idea came from Liverpool, New Jersey, America.

In 2011, Visage joined the American reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race and has been a regular judge since the third season. He is also a regular judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under. Visage won 3 Primetime Emmy Awards as a producer on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
In 2015 Visage participated in the fifth series of the famous British reality show Big Brother and placed fifth. In 2018, she was a judge on Ireland’s Got Talent and the following year she was a contestant on the seventh series of the British dance competition Strictly Come Dancing.
Visage grew up in New Jersey. He was adopted and had known him since childhood.

Vizag’s mother died at the age of 30. Visage rose to fame in the New York drag ball scene and learned to twirl from various individuals, including Willie Ninja.

Michelle got her surname Visage after being nicknamed “cara” (Spanish for “face”) by people she dated at prom in New York. However, people mispronounced it, so she decided to change it to “vizage” (“face” in French—the language she studied in middle and high school).
Visage also first met her future co-star and collaborator, RuPaul, in the late 1980s while attending club parties and parties hosted by Suzanne Bartsch.
In 1989, Visage performed at Bartsch’s “Love Ball” for the AIDS Design Foundation. The Love Ball is said to be where Madonna first saw inspiration for Vogue.

In 1990, Visage auditioned for Seduction, a dance and R&B trio formed by Robert Clevils and David Cole, signed to A&M Records and won a spot.
The group had several hits, the most famous of which was “Two Make It Right”. After the band broke up, Visage collaborated with the freedance band TKA as a guest vocalist on Crash (Have Some Fun).
Visage was a vocalist and recording artist for another dance drama assembled by Cleville, Cole and The S.O.U.L. SYSTEM. “It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day”, a cover of Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day”, was included on The Bodyguard soundtrack.

“It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day” became a number-one dance single and peaked at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1993.
Visage has appeared on several of RuPaul’s music albums and appears in the video for “New York City Beat”.
And “From Your Heart”, which originally appeared in RuPaul’s Gre Scre Christmas Special (2015) and later uploaded to the World of Wonder YouTube channel.
In February 2021, it was confirmed that Visage would release a remastered version of “Heartbreak in This City” featuring Steps.

Visage was the morning show host on WKTU in New York from 1996 to 2002, when he began working professionally with co-host RuPaul. While RuPaul left radio, Visage continued to host a number of morning shows, including Hot 92 Jamz (KHHT) in Los Angeles from 2002 to 2005.
In 2005, Visage returned to New York City and co-hosted WNEW-FM’s The Morning Mix until December 2006. He also hosted The Beat 66 on Sirius from 2003 to 2006 Satellite Radio.
On March 12, 2007, he became co-host of the morning show SUNNY 104.3 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She hosted WKTU’s morning show with RuPaul from 1996 to 2002. When RuPaul selected the judges for the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, he invited Visage to become a regular on the show. At that time she signed a five-year contract with the CBS radio station in West Palm Beach; After asking her boss if he could be on the show, she said no, citing Visage’s ties to the show’s LGBT community.
