Kentucky is one of 14 marijuana-free states, but nearly a decade ago, Kentucky lawmakers managed to legalize the weed. That 0.3 percent is next to nothing, especially when a person can purchase 0.3 percent marijuana flower from state-licensed dispensaries with a THC content of over 20 percent.

But 0.3 percent THC is almost nothing, but not zero. In fact, it is a very important thing. No one imagined in 2014 that McConnell’s hemp pilot program would lead to legal THC hoops. But the events that brought us here happened pretty quickly.

As soon as the 2014 Farm Bill came into effect, CBD brands producing CBD hemp oil appeared. Some companies call it “full spectrum” as a subtle way to advertise THC content without even saying out loud the allowable amount of THC in their CBD oil.

When the agricultural law was re-approved in 2018, the cat was out of the bag. Everyone, including Mitch McConnell, knows that legalizing hemp means a legal national market for cannabinoids, as evidenced by the popularity of CBD oil.

The FDA and NORML typically disagree when it comes to marijuana recommendations. So if any of these organizations find a problem with Delta-8-THC, it stands to reason that Delta-8-THC could be problematic.

This is where the federally legal Delta-9 THC comes in to save the day. Thank you, Mitch McConnell. Why worry about Delta-8 THC when anyone living anywhere in the United States can order USDA-9 certified organic hemp products?
