To determine the causes of insurance premiums, the authors consider various risks based on past events. This paper focuses on determination of Probable Maximum Loss (PML) for emergency calculation in Vranzia (Carpathian region and mountain range). It is the most seismically active region of Romania and includes the capital city of Bucharest, which is the most populated area and is therefore described as being at risk.
